Robot Chicken English Subtitle - Why Robot Chicken Still Rules Adult Swim After 20 Years
Robot Chicken is a groundbreaking American adult stop-motion animated sketch comedy series created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich. Since premiering on February 20, 2005 on Adult Swim, the show has become a cult favorite, known for its rapid-fire parodies of pop culture, celebrities, movies, TV shows, and toys, brought to life with stop-motion animation, claymation, and creative practical effects.
The show originated from Twisted ToyFare Theatre, a humorous photo comic series, and a short web series called Sweet J Presents (2001). Initially rejected by multiple networks, Robot Chicken found its home at Adult Swim thanks to insider recommendations, and quickly gained a strong following.
Each 12-minute episode is packed with unrelated sketches, simulating TV channel surfing. Custom action figures are used extensively, placing iconic characters like Optimus Prime, Godzilla, and Stretch Armstrong in absurd adult scenarios.
Robot Chicken features a rotating voice cast led by Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, Breckin Meyer, Tom Root, and Dan Milano. It often includes celebrity cameos, with big names like Seth MacFarlane, George Lucas, Mark Hamill, and more lending their voices.
The series has won two Annie Awards and six Emmy Awards, and aired 11 seasons (220 episodes + 11 specials). Notable highlights include a Star Wars Special (2007) and the landmark 100th and 200th episodes.
In 2025, Robot Chicken will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special titled "The Robot Chicken Self-Discovery Special," marking a shift from traditional seasons to standalone specials.
