"Hunt" (2024) is a Malayalam horror thriller that marks director Shaji Kailas’s return to the genre with a gripping narrative led by Bhavana. Written by Nikhil Anand and produced by K. Radhakrishnan under Jayalakshmi Films, the film unfolds as a mysterious and eerie tale set in the backdrop of Palakkad. Bhavana stars as Dr. Keerthy, a character enmeshed in supernatural happenings and dark revelations.

The film opens with a haunting tone, elevated by Kailas Menon’s suspenseful background score and Jackson Johnson’s atmospheric cinematography. Shaji Kailas cleverly blends horror and thriller elements, using silence and shadow to build tension. The narrative's strength lies in its pacing and tight editing by Ajas Pukkadan, although some horror clichés occasionally break the immersion.

The supporting cast — including Renji Panicker as Padmanabhan Ramaswamy, Ajmal Ameer as ACP Assurance, and Rahul Madhav as Akbar Ahmed — brings solid performances, especially during tense confrontations. Chandhunadh, Aditi Ravi, and Nandu round out the cast, each playing roles that add depth to the unfolding mystery.

Although "Hunt" doesn’t reinvent the genre, it delivers a watchable experience for horror-thriller fans. The climax is satisfying, and Bhavana’s return to a serious, intense role is commendable. For those who enjoy investigative horror laced with emotional tension, Hunt is worth the watch.
