"Rakshana" (transl. Protector) is a hard-hitting Telugu crime thriller that explores the trials of ACP Kiran (played powerfully by Payal Rajput), a newly appointed IPS officer. When her close friend dies by alleged suicide, Kiran suspects foul play. However, the system she serves turns against her — she’s framed for abetment, gaslighted, and doubted at every turn.

Director Pradeep Thakore crafts a gripping narrative that fuses emotional depth with investigative suspense. The screenplay cleverly interweaves themes of gender bias, misogyny, and mental health — making "Rakshana" a rare feminist voice in mainstream Telugu cinema.

Payal Rajput carries the film with a commanding performance, while Maanas Nagulapalli and Roshan provide solid support. The cinematography by Anil Bandari captures both the chaos and calm of Kiran’s journey, while Mahati Swara Sagar’s music, especially the title track, adds emotional gravitas.

With a runtime of 138 minutes, Rakshana keeps you engaged, although a few portions could’ve used tighter editing. Nevertheless, it delivers a strong message: Who protects the protector?
