Devika and Danny (2025) S01 English Subtitle - Ritu Varma Shines in a Clean Telugu Romantic Drama

I just finished watching Devika & Danny on Jio Hotstar, and I must say—it’s one of those web series that offers a clean, calm, and family-friendly experience. Directed by B. Kishore of Sreekaram fame, the show marks Ritu Varma’s Telugu OTT debut, and she fits beautifully into the gentle role of Devika, a grounded music teacher.

The story kicks off with Devika getting engaged to Jaggu, played by Subbaraju, whose possessive nature raises silent concerns. But everything shifts when a mysterious man named Danny enters her life—played by Surya Vashistta with grace and restraint. The series follows the soft unraveling of Devika’s inner conflict and the changes brought about by Danny’s presence.

What I really liked was how the show avoids loud, adult themes and instead focuses on emotion, subtlety, and clean storytelling. Ritu Varma’s natural performance brings warmth, while Surya Vashistta delivers charm without going over the top. Their chemistry adds a layer of sweetness that makes the viewing experience quite relaxing.

However, the show does fall short in a few areas. After the main twist is revealed midway, the rest becomes fairly predictable. The emotional depth also feels somewhat lacking. Logic gaps—like Devika not reacting strongly to Danny’s suspicious repeated appearances—stand out and could’ve used better writing.

Some characters feel underused, especially Harsha Chemudu and Shiva Kandukuri, whose parts fail to leave a lasting impression. Kovai Sarala makes a decent comeback, but her emotional subplot doesn’t fully bloom.

Technically, Devika & Danny looks polished. Venkat C Dillip’s cinematography is clean and elegant, Jay Krish’s background music suits the tone, and the editing by Karthikeyan Rohini is decent though a bit tighter pacing could have helped.

Overall, it’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a refreshing break from intense thrillers and bold dramas. If you’re in the mood for a calm, easygoing watch this weekend, Devika & Danny could be just the thing.
