Kesari Chapter 2 (2025) English Subtitle - Justice for a Massacre Unfolds in Powerful Drama

Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh (2025) is a gripping historical courtroom drama that dares to spotlight one of colonial India’s most brutal episodes—the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, this film serves as a spiritual sequel to Kesari (2019), but this time, the battlefield is a courtroom, and the weapon is the truth.

Akshay Kumar leads the film with a measured and powerful performance as Justice C. Sankaran Nair, a real-life barrister who famously challenged the British Empire by suing General Dyer and The Crown for the Amritsar killings. Instead of the expected rubber-stamp inquiry, Nair’s conscience launches a bold legal rebellion that forever alters the colonial narrative.

Set in the immediate aftermath of the massacre, the film’s emotionally charged plot follows Nair as he takes on the British legal system. He is aided by the fictional but effective duo of Pargat Singh (Krish Rao) and Dilreet Gill (Ananya Panday). Opposing him is R. Madhavan as the slick, morally complex British lawyer Neville McKinley, a composite character representing systemic colonial cruelty.

The drama unfolds through a series of fiery courtroom exchanges, recreated with gripping intensity and authenticity. The screenplay by Karan Singh Tyagi and Amritpal Singh Bindra, based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire, smartly blends historical fact with cinematic flair. With Nitin Baid’s editing, Debojeet Ray’s cinematography, and Shashwat Sachdev’s stirring score, the technical aspects elevate the drama into something that feels urgent and timeless.

Released on April 18, 2025, marking the 106th anniversary of the massacre, Kesari Chapter 2 earned critical praise and box office success, grossing over ₹140 crore against its ₹100 crore budget.

This isn’t just another historical film—it’s a righteous, rousing, and relevant courtroom epic. It deserves to be watched, remembered, and discussed.
